War service: Western Front Proceeded overseas to France from England, 10 September 1916; taken on strength, 24th Bn, Belgium, 21 September 1916. Wounded in action, 14 March 1917 (gun shot wound, left buttock and back), and admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to Ambulance Train, 19 March 1917, and admitted to 6th General Hospital, Etaples, 20 March 1917. Transferred to England, 18 April 1917, and admitted to Exeter Auxiliary Hospital, 19 April 1917; transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiluiary Hospital, Dartford, 13 July 1917; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 16 July 1917.
