Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry in the enemy attack at DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on 5th April 1918. As Linesman he worked throughout the day under very heavy shell and machine gun fire effecting numerous repairs to the line. The fact that communication with the Battalion was maintained throughout the day was the result of his untiring energy and unflinching devotion to duty.'
