Distinguished Conduct Medal 'On 5 October, 1918, at Montbrehain, during an enemy counter attack, he rallied his men, and successfully held on until reinforcements came up. He continued to give orders after being badly wounded. His gallant and determined leadership was largely responsible for the objective being held.'
