Military Medal 'During the attack near MONT ST. QUENTIN, North East of PERONNE on 2nd September 1918, this man was acting as a stretcher bearer. For two days and nights he worked continuously, carrying in wounded, and would not take any rest. He repeatedly passed through heavy enemy shell and machine gun fire, and on two occasions went right out in the open close to enemy positions, to bring in wounded men, being sniped at all the time. During the whole operation he set a fine example to all ranks, and showed utter disregard for danger.'
