Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For gallant conduct during operations against Peronne, 1 and 2 September, 1918. As the first wave approached the enemy line, it was subjected to heavy enfilade machine gun fire from a bend in the river. This N.C.O. worked forward alone, and with his revolver shot several of the enemy. He then captured a post of sixteen with four machine guns.'
