Distinguished Conduct Medal 'He has acted as platoon sergeant during the period 25 February to 16 September 1918 serving continuously with his unit, and often having charge of the platoon during the absence of his platoon commander. At Messines, in February and March, he constantly led fighting patrols, and showed great gallantry and devotion to duty. During April, May and June, when the battalion was in the Hamel sector, he again displayed great skill and gallantry as a patrol leader. His work throughout has been of a very high standard.'
