Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack east of Mont St. Quentin on 2nd September 1918. While in charge of the reserve battalion, observing a dangerous gap in the line, he rushed a platoon through a heavy barrage and filed it. Later, he led a platoon to the capture of an important point under heavy fire of all description, securing the flank of the line.'
