War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney on HMAT 'Wiltshire', 7 February 1917; disembarked Devonport, 11 April 1917, and marched into 7th Training Bn, Rollestone. Found guilty, 17 May 1917, of being absent without leave, 7.00 am, 14 May, to 1.00 pm, 24 May 1917: awarded 3 days' confinement to quarters; forfeited total of 5 days' pay. Proceeded to France through Southampton, 17 October 1917; marched into 2nd Australian Divisional Base Depot, Havre, 18 October 1917; marched out, 22 October 1917; taken on strength by 26th Bn, Belgium, 24 October 1917; proceeded to United Kingdom on leave, 12 October 1918; rejoined unit, 29 October 1918; marched into Australian General Base Depot, Havre, 25 March 1919. Proceeded to England, 26 March 1919, and marched into No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny. Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Ypiringa', 15 May 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 5 July 1919.
