Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in putting out of action an enemy machine gun during an attack. On the first objective being reached, this gun opened fire on our troops, who were digging in. He rushed forward, bayoneted the gunner, and captured the gun. A splendid performance.'
