Military Medal 'At POLYGON WOOD on 26/28th September, 1917 this N.C.O. had command of a platoon throughout the action and his coolness and excellent judgment proved of great assistance in the advance. When the officer in command of the leading platoon had been killed and the men seemed inclined to waver,without waiting for orders, he rushed forward and assumed command, gallantly leading two platoons to the capture of the final objective.'
