Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At the attack on WESTHOEK RIDGE on 20th September 1917 - as a stretcher bearer he worked without ceasing, and bandaged and carried in many men under very heavy fire. He showed an absolute disregard of personal safety. A number of N.C.O.s and men have spoken of his gallant conduct.'
