War service: embarked Sydney, 14 June 1917; disembarked Liverpool, England, 26 August 1917. Marched into Training Battalion, Codford, from AIF Headquarters, London, 27 August 1917. Found guilty of being absent without leave from 23 to 8.30 pm, 26 October 1917. Awarded forfeiture of 21 days' pay by CO 4th Training Bn, Lt Col E. Drake-Brockman. Total forfeiture (including period of absence): 24 days. Proceeded overseas to France via Southampton, 12 February 1918; taken on strength, 15th Bn, 18 February 1918. Wounded in action, remaining on duty, 14 June 1918. Commenced return to Australia, 25 September 1919. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal Also served in World War II as Q24613.
