Embarked Alexandria on 'Franconia' and proceeded to jointhe British Expeditionary Force, 6 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 16 June 1916. Found guilty at Rollestone, 25 June 1916, of drunkenness whilst in lines: awarded 7 days' closed confinement. Proceeded to France, 8 September 1916; marched into 4th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 11 September 1916; moved out to field, 30 September 1916; taken on strength of 48th Bn, 1 October 1916; attached to 259th Tunnelling Company, 10 October 1916; rejoined unit from detachment, 21 October 1916.
