Military Medal 'For extreme bravery and devotion to duty. On November 22nd these men manned a .visual.station at Brigade headquarters, near Ypres, whilst under most severe and constant shell fire. As the buried cable route was blown out at the time and some important information from the Battalion in the line was expected, it was necessary that the station be manned at all hazards, as visual was the only means of communication. During this period a shell landed a few feet in front of the station shattering the lamps, yet these men remained calmly at their posts and eventually sent and received several important messages. An excellent example was thus set to the other members of the visual station.'
