Military Medal 'On the 7th June, 1917, during operations, south of MESSINES, for his gallant conduct and personal bravery. Before his Company reached its objective it was partially held up a hostile machine gun. He went forward to endeavour to dislodge the gun, and although wounded in the head, succeeded in entering the trench and shooting the Germans operating the gun. By his gallant action he undoubtedly saved many casualties to his Company.'
