Medals |
Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry near ALBERT on April 5th 1918. After our counter-attack had been delivered, he was a member of a patrol sent out to ascertain the enemy position with a view to further counter-attack. When about fifty yards from the enemy position they were observed and fired on by an enemy machine gun, the officer of the patrol being badly wounded. Corporal Dolan endeavoured to bring the officer back to our lines, but being wounded himself his efforts failed. He then crawled back to our lines under heavy machine gun fire and delivered valuable information to his Battalion Commander. Throughout the operation he showed a spirit of aggressiveness which set a high example for his comrades to emulate.'
