'This N.C.O. on 31st August 1918 near village of BAREUX South of PERONNE showed magnificent courage and disregard of his personal safety. He repeatedly dashed out from shelter to succour wounded under a very heavy artillery fire. His fine steadiness and courage under this bombardment was a splendid example to all ranks and throughout the whole of the operations in PERONNE area from 27th August 1918 to 2nd September 1918 his cheerful willingness to under take long errands through shelled areas contributed greatly to the successful and rapid evacuation of the wounded.'
