Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Whilst on outpost duty, an enemy post was seen moving up at dusk. Watching his opportunity, this man let drive with a Lewis gun, and then rushed forward to investigate, capturing one light machine gun and a British Lewis gun, and found four dead enemy.'
