Military Medal 'Near SAILLY, on the night 29th/30th June, 1916, he saw that the tape was properly laid and arranged for a raiding party. He then escorted prisoners through the wire and afterwards, although thoroughly exhausted, remained behind and assisted to bring in the body of Sergeant Downer and Lieutenant Prior (wounded), on these occasions being under heavy fire.'
