Military Medal 'During the operations against the HINDENBURG Line near NOREUIL on the 3rd/4th May, these men [EDWARDS, 4571 F. WILSON, and 4070 H.W. BROWN] acted as Stretcher bearers despite the extremely heavy shell fire, Machine Gun fire and sniping. They carried on with their work of recovering the wounded with the utmost coolness and determination even though two of the original party were wounded. Private EDWARDS acted as leader and was particularly courageous. They were instrumental in saving numbers of our wounded who would otherwise have perished from shell fire. These men have been previously recommended for excellent work in other operations.'
