Found guilty, 14 August 1916, of neglect to the prejudice of good order and military discipline in that he was absent from stable parade at 4 pm, 12 August 1916: awarded 3 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 4 days' pay.

Transferred to 10th Field Artillery Brigade, 25 January 1917, and posted to 39th Battery.

Wounded in action, 5 April 1918 (gun shot wound, chest), and admitted to 13th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 22nd General Hospital, Camiers, 6 April 1918; to No 6 Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 9 April 1918; to No 7 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 14 April 1918; found guilty, 15 April 1918, of breaking out of camp: awarded 14 days' confined to camp, and forfeited 3 days' pay; transferred to No 10 Convalescent Depot, Ecault, 24 April 1918; to 5th Division Rest Camp, 25 April 1918; to Base Depot, Havre, 28 April 1918; rejoined unit, 18 May 1918.

Admitted to 13th Australian Field Ambulance, 1 September 1918 (accidentally injured: thrown from horse; fractured skull: slight), and transferred to 53rd Casulaty Clearing Station; to 10th General Hospital, Rouen, 2 September 1918; to England, 3 September 1918, and admitted to Exeter War Hospital; discharged on furlough, 11 October 1918, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 25 October 1918.

Found guilty, 2 November 1918, of being absent without leave from dental parade: awarded 3 days' confined to camp.
