Marched in to 1st Training Bn, 14 October 1916; proceeded overseas to France via Folkstone on board SS 'Ardundel,' 13 December 1916; marched in, 1st Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, 14 December 1916; marched out to unit, 17 December 1916; taken on strength, 3rd Bn, 19 December 1916.

Wounded in action, 1 March 1917; admitted to 1st Australian Field ambulance, 1 March 1917 (shrapnel wounds, left arm); died of wounds, 2 March 1917; buried at Single Circus Cemetery, 2 March 1917.
