Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in an attack. When all his N.C.O.'s were killed or wounded, he collected a party of men and led them to the capture of a strong point which was holding up part of the advance. His prompt and courageous action enabled the advance to continue.'
