Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations near WESTHOEK, East of YPRES. On 6th November, 1917 the enemy heavily shelled the area occupied by one Company, causing casualties. L/Sergeant FORD went to the assistance of the wounded, although the shelling continued, showing great bravery and coolness. His action without doubt saved the lives of some of the wounded. His cheerfulness and courage under fire have always been of the highest order, and his example has meant much to the men.'
