'At MORLANCOURT on night 28/29th July 1918. Conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. rendered excellent work in reorganising his Platoon under exceptionally difficult circumstances, and displayed great skill in controlling the advance. He kept his command well in hand and led his Section against all opposition to the final objective and consolidated, inflicting many casualties and taking several prisoners. He was an inspiring example to the remainder of the Platoon. Before the attack this N.C.O. led several patrols up to enemy positions, remaining in 'No Man's Land for several hours to locate Machine Guns and S.Ps. He has at all times displayed splendid leadership and inspired all under him with perfect confidence.'
