Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 3 September 1915.

Disembarked Alexandria, 4 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Found guilty, Tel el Kebir, 16 January 1916, of (1) breaking out of camp; (2) being absent from Tattoo, 16 January, to 0700, 21 January 1916 (105 hours): awarded 168 hours' detention, and forfeited 5 days' pay.

Admitted to 13th Field Ambulance, 1 March 1916 (influenza); discharged to duty, 4 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 1 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 9 June 1916.

Admitted to 39th General Hospital, Havre, 21 November 1916 (injured left hand); discharged to Base Depot, Etaples, 15 December 1916.

Transferred to England, 13 February 1917; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 17 February 1917.

Found guilty, Montevideo Camp, Weymouth, of overstaying furlough from 9 am, 26 August, till he reported at 9.45 pm, 30 August 1917: awarded 7 days' confined to barracks, and forfeited 5 days' pay.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ulysses', 10 September 1917; disembarked Melbourne, 13 November 1917, for overland travel to Sydney; discharged, Sydney (medically unfit: tuberculosis), 11 May 1918.
