Embarked Brisbane, 17 November 1916; admitted to ship's hospital at sea, 10 December 1916; discharged from ship's hospital, 12 December 1916 (no further details recorded); disembarked Plymouth, England, 30 January 1917, and marched in to 11th Training Bn.

Proceeded overseas to France, 14 June 1917; taken on strength, 41st Bn, 12 July 1917.

Wounded in action, 31 July 1917 (shrapnel wound, left leg), and admitted to 11th Australian Field Ambulance and transferred same day to Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 57th General Hospital, 1 August 1917; to England, 4 August 1917, and admitted same day to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth; transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 4 October 1917; discharged on furlough, 5 October 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 19 October 1917. Marched in to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverell, 5 November 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 15 November 1917; rejoined Bn, 22 November 1917.

Admitted to 10th Australian Field Ambulance, 7 June 1918 (influennza), and transferred same day to 47th Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, 13 June 1918; rejoined Bn, 13 June 1918.
