Taken on strength, 2nd Light Horse Training Regiment, Tel el Kebir, 28 June 1916. Transferred to 6th Light Horse Regiment, 5 August 1916. Attached for duty to Headquarters, Australian Army Service Corps, Australian Mounted Division Train, 4 June 1917. Traken on strength, Divisional Train Training Depot, Moascar, 4 August 1917. Appointed Driver, 13 August 1917. Found guilty, 9 August 1917, of conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline in that he failed to keep his tent in a clean and proper order: awarded 4 days confined to barracks.

Transferred to HQ Company, Australian Mounted Division Train, Moascar, 20 August 1917. To Rest Camp, Pt Said, 1 July 1918. Temporarily detached to Anzac Mounted Division Train, 4 July 1918; returned from detachment, 20 July 1918.

Admitted to 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance, Tripoli, 13 February 1919 (diarrhoea); discharged, 18 February 1919. Transferred to 37th Company, AASC, 4 April 1919.

Commenced return to Australia from Kantara on board HT 'Essex', 15 June 1919; disembarked Sydney, 28 July 1919; discharged, 12 September 1919.
