Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in command of two guns during an enemy attack. He covered the retirement of the brigade until the enemy were within 200 yards. Two days later, he set a fine example to all ranks under heavy fire by his courage and ability in locating , engaging, and destroying enemy machine guns and troops.'
