Proceeded overseas to France, 15 February 1917; taken on strength, 32nd Bn, in the field, 19 March 1917, and reallotted Regimental No 2648A. Appointed Lance Corporal, 22 June 1917; Corporal, 23 August 1917; Sergeant, 17 November 1917. On leave to United Kingdom, 28 February 1918; rejoined Bn from leave, 15 March 1918. Attached to 8th Infantry Brigade as Burial Sergeant, 18 March 1918; rejoined Bn from detachment, 26 May 1918. Marched out to England for return to Australia, 17 April 1919.
