War service: Western Front Embarked Melbourne, 20 May 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 18 July 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 31 December 1916; transferred to 12th Field Artillery Brigade, 4 February 1917, pending absorption into 11th Field Artillery Brigade. Taken on strength, 11th FAB, and posted to 111th Battery, 9 March 1917. Admitted to 10th Field Ambulance, 1 June 1917 (scabies); rejoined unit from hospital, 21 June 1917. Wounded in action, Belgium, 6 October 1917 (gun shot wound back, penetrating chest and abdomen); admitted same day to 37th Casualty Clearing Station; died of wounds, 15 October 1917.
