Embarked Fremantle, 23 December 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 16 February 1917; marched in to 15th Training Bn, Hurdcott, 21 February 1917; marched in to 13th Training Bn, Codford, 6 March 1917; proceeded overseas to France, 14 June 1917; marched in to 4th Australian Division Base Depot, Havre, France, 15 June 1917; proceeded to join unit, 3 July 1917.

Found guilty, 7 September 1917, of (1) drunkenness and (2) being in encampment during prohibited hours: awarded forfeiture of 19 days' pay.

Wounded in action in the field and admitted to 3rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, 26 September 1917 (shrapnel wound to head); transferred to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 29 September 1917; to No 10 Convalescent Depot, 13 October 1917; discharged to Base details, 18 October 1917.

Marched in to 4th Australian Division Base Depot, Havre, 20 October 1917; proceeded to join unit, 15 November 1917; rejoined unit in the field, 26 November 1917; marched in to Base details, Havre, 28 December 1917; proceeded to England, 16 January 1918; marched in to Weymouth Command Depot, England, 14 January 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Osterley', 31 January 1918; disembarked Perth, 6 April 1918; discharged, 23 April 1918.
