Appointed Lance Corporal, 18 April 1917. To 5th Army Summer Rest Camp, 27 May 1917; rejoined Bn, 20 June 1917. Wounded in action,12 October 1917 (gun shot wound, scalp), and admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 10th Casualty Clearing Station, 12 October 1917; by 29th Ambulance Train to 11th Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 13-14 October 1917; to England, 19 October 1917, and admitted to Voluntary Aid Hospital, Cheltenham, 21 October 1917.
