Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty at BROODSEINDE East of YPRES on October 3rd/6th, 1917. This N.C.O. was in charge of two sections carrying forward tools and stores to his Company detailed for the 2nd objective. He carried out his duties under heavy shell fire in a most efficient manner leading his party backwards and forwards frequently. He also maintained touch between Company and Battalion Headquarters. His successful leadership and contempt of personal danger and his perfect coolness and perseverance in spite of innumerable difficulties are worthy of the highest praise.'
