Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry at BROODSEINDE on 9th October, 1917. In and after the attack this N.C.O. was in charge of a relay post on the forward telephone lines. He was on duty for 24 hours continuously in which time he repeatedly mended breaks in the wire under very heavy enemy barrage fire. He worked tirelessly under most adverse conditions and throughout showed a great spirit of devotion to duty and self-sacrifice. The success and value of the forward lines were, to a great extent, due to this N.C.O.'s work.'
