War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 30 October 1916; found guilty, 24 December 1916, of being absent from church parade: award, confined to ship, and forfeits 2 days' pay; disembarked Plymouth, England, 10 January 1917. Marched into 6th Training Bn, Rollestone, no date stated. Proceeded overseas to France, 19 June 1917; marched into 2nd Australian Divisional Base Depot, Le Havre, 20 June 1917. Proceeded to unit, 7 July 1917; taken on strength of 23rd Bn, 9 July 1917. On leave to England, 6 March 1918; rejoined unit, 28 March 1918. Admitted to No 57 Field Ambulance, 3 April 1918 (gonorrhoea) transferred to No 2 Casualty Clearing Station, 3 April 1918; to No 38 Ambulance Train, 6 April 1918; to No 39 General Hospital, Le Havre, 9 April 1918; discharged, 6 June 1918, and marched into Australian Intermediate Base Depot, Le Havre, the same day.
