War service: Egypt. Disembarked Suez, ex-HMAT 'Geelong', 18 December 1915. Admitted to No 8 Field Ambulance, Ferry Post, 19 January 1916 (chronic bronchitis); transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 20 January 1916 (chronic bronchitis and asthma); to No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Ismailia, 25 January 1916; to No 4 Hospital Train, 27 January 1916; to No 4 Auxiliary Hospital, Abbassia, 27 January 1916 (scarletina); to Oversea's Base, Ghezireh, 11 March 1916. Admitted to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Ghezireh, 14 March 1916, and transferred to No 3 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, the same day (asthma). Declared permanently unfit, 29 March 1916, due to asthma since arrival in Egypt, and periodic asthma attacks 3 years prior to enlistment.
