Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 27 June 1916.

Wounded in action, 15 July 1916 (gun shot wound, compound fracture, right thigh penetrating wound of neck). Died of wounds, 15 July 1916. Rev W. Meredith Holliday officiated at burial.
