Embarked Fremantle on HMAT 'Katuna' for change, 24 November 1915; disembarked Suez from HMAT 'Geelong, 18 December 1915.

Admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance, 22 February 1916, and transferred to 2nd Stationary Hospital, Tel-el-Kebir (abrasions to hand, knee and cheek); discharged to unit, 7 March 1916. Transferred to 22nd Howitzer Brigade from 32nd Battalion, Zeitoun, 10 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 25 March 1916; promoted to rank of 1st Class Warrant Officer, 4 May 1916. Transferred to 22nd Field Artillery Brigade, 13 May 1916; rank of Warrant Officer Class One confirmed, 19 May 1916.

Admitted to Field Ambulance, 1 November 1916, and transferred to 34th Casualty Clearing Station (wound from aerial bomb, right side).

Died of wounds, France, 2 November 1916.
