Wounded in action and admitted to Casualty Clearing Station, 23 July 1916 (gun shot wound to scalp); transferred to 19th Ambulance Train and admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital, Rouen, 24 July 1916; to England, 26 July 1916; admitted to Beaufort War Hospital, Bristol, England, 27 July 1916; discharged from hospital and granted leave, 25 August 1916.
