Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He kept his battery in action during an enemy counter attack in spite of a heavy barrage. When all his ammunition was expended he took command of a platoon, and led them with great ability throughout the operations. He displayed the greatest coolness and initiative.'
