Distinguished Conduct Medal 'On 18 October, 1918j, near St. Martin's Reviere, he brought his section into action ac ross the river under heavy shell fire. Again, on the morning of 23 October, 1918, he kept his gun in action throughout a barrage lasting seven hours with only one man besides himself on the gun.'
