Military Medal 'During operations east of JEANCOURT on 18th September, 1918, Corporal GARDINER displayed great dash and initiative. In the face of heavy machine gun fire, he rushed forward and captured - single handed - a gun and crew which was holding up the advance near GRAND PRIEL WOOD.'
