Proceeded overseas to France, 14 April 1917; marched out to 1st Anzac Entrenching Bn, 21 April 1917. Wounded in action, 23 May 1917 (gun shot wound, contusion, right groin), and admitted to 60th Field Ambulance, then transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station; discharged to duty, 28 May 1917, and rejoined Bn same day. Taken on strength, 3rd Australian Tunnelling Company, 8 September 1917.
