Military Medal 'During operations from 24th September 1917 to 29th September 1917, in the vicinity of POLYGON WOOD, did repeatedly carry out wounded comrades under very heavy shell fire, and also carried quantities of ammunition under heavy fire to the Machine gun battery to which he was attached. By his courage and devotion to duty he set a splendid example to his comrades.'
