Wounded in action, 8 September 1918 (gunshot wound, back and left shoulder); admitted to 4th Field Ambulance, 9 July 1918; transferred same day to 5th Casualty Clearing Station, and then to Ambulance Train No 36, 12 July 1918, and admitted to 6th General Hospital Rouen, 13 July 1918; to England, 16 July 1918, and admitted to Beaufort War hospital, Bristol, 17 July 1918; transferred to Ham Green Hospital, 19 July 1918; to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 16 August 1918; discharged to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 28 August 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Shropshire', 1 April 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 16 May 1919; discharged (medically unfit: gun shot wound, left shoulder), Melbourne, 23 June 1919.
