Wounded in action, 10 July 1915 (gun shot wound: superficial); admitted to Tigne hospital, Malta, 18 July 1915; transfererd to All Saints Convalescent Camp, 11 August 1915.

Found guilty, 13 September 1915, of while on Active service being drunk in Valetta: awarded 2 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Embarked for Egypt, 26 September 1915; marched in to Australian Overseas Base, Mustapha, 30 September 1915.

Embarked Alexandria to rejoin Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 18 October 1915; rejoined Bn, Gallipoli, 31 October 1915.

Disembarked Alexandria, 28 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Found guilty, Tel el Kebir, 6 January 1916, of (1) breaking camp; (2) being drunk in town, 30 December; (3) being absent from 1830, 29 December, to 1435, 30 December: awarded (charge 1) 7 days' Field Punishment No 2; charge 2: admonished; charge 3: forfeited 2 days' pay; total forfeiture: 9 days' pay.

Marched in to Australian Overseas Base, 4 January 1916.

Transferred to 54th Bn, 14 February 1916.

Transferred to 59th Bn, 12 May 1916; joined Bn, Ferry Post, 18 May 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916.

Wounded in action, 19 July 1916 (gun shot wound, back and legs); admitted to 14th Field Ambulance, 21 July 1916, and transferred same day to 8th Casualty Clearing Station, and thence to 10th Stationary Hospital, St Omer.
