Taken ill whilst on lines, Gallipoli, 4 December 1915 (rheumatism). Admitted to No 1 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 11 December 1915; transferred to 2nd Auxiliary Hospital, 1 February 1916; discharged to duty, 7 February 1916.

Embarked Suez on HT 'Nestor' and commenced return to Australia, 9 February 1916. Discharged on account of being medically unfit for continued service, Melbourne, 12 July 1916 (chronic rheumatism).
