Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. While he was in charge of a detachment at a loading post the enemy opened a heavy bombardment. Though nearly all the shelters were demolished, he continued at his work of removing casualties throughout intense shelling. He set a splendid example of courage and devotion to duty.'
