War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 7 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 21 November 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 15 March 1917; taken on strength, 1st Bn, in the field, 5-8 May 1917. Wounded in action, 5 May 1917 (gun shot wound, buttock, legs), and admitted to 5th Field Ambulance, and transferred to 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station same day. Died of wounds, 5 May 1917.
